Josh returns to Glasgow in 2010 for what many expect to be a very big season for him. After an excellent debut season, he continued his improvement in 2009 but it was hampered again with bad luck on the injury front, breaking his ankle representing Australia in the World Team Cup in Germany but not realising it until he returned to the UK the next day, having finished the meeting!
Josh is one of the current crop of exciting young Australian prospects who have come over to the UK in the past couple of years. He has been riding speedway since he was 12 years old and showed steady progression in that time. Impressively, he has at various times held the Queensland Junior title. the Queensland U21 and been the full Queensland Champion, all by the time he was 19. Like many of the Australians he also rode dirt track and longtrack, winning junior titles in both events.
Although he was named no 8 for Belle Vue in 2009, his opportunities to ride were extremely limited and he didn't get the chance to get the experience at the top level that he would perhaps have liked, the timing of his injury not helping.
In addition to riding for Glasgow in 2010, Josh has taken the intelligent option of signing for Danish side Holstebro as part of their squad and hopefully this will give him more opportunity to broaden his experience than he got with Belle Vue last season.
The winter season in Australia has been quite quiet for Josh although he did make the Australian championships after riding well in the Qualifiers and after a short break Josh will no doubt be raring to go for 2010 .
