On returning 'home' to Glasgow in 2009, James Grieves indicated that one of his ambitions was to finish in the top ten of the Premier League averages and despite Tigers having a poor season, one of the highlights was James achieving the form that saw him attain that target, finishing 6th highest. For a large part of the season he was in the top four and was very unlucky to loose out on a spot in the PLRC.
It is fair to say however that 2010 didn't turn out as James, and perhaps most Tigers fans, had hoped. With things going awry with the team, the averages saw James become a sacrificial lamb to allow Tigers to bring in Joe Screen. The suspected foot injury that was the reason given for him being dropped turned out to be less serious than at first feared and james quickly returned to the saddle with Redcar. The season finished with a well deserved testimonial at Glasgow for James and it seemed to re-ignite his enthusiasm for the sport. He is on a very attractive average and Tigers fans are delighted to see him return to the Stripes for 2011.
James spent his early years at Glasgow before taking the step up to the top league with Wolverhampton in 1996, a place he is still held in high regard by the fans. However half way through the 98 season, team changes saw James dropped and he went to Berwick on loan. Edinburgh secured his services on loan in 1999 before James took the decision that riled many of our rivals fans and to an extent their promotion and returned to Glasgow in 2000, staying until the end of the 2004 season
After leaving Glasgow at the end of 2004, James spent a couple of seasons at Newcastle and a couple of seasons at Redcar and matured into one of the top riders in the Premier League.
