Saracen Park is the home of Ashfield Juniors and the football guide lists it as having a capacity of 3500. A former greyhound track around the outside of the football pitch has been replaced by the speedway circuit.
Supporters facilities are in line with Scottish Junior football grounds. There is a stand on the home straight which has a capacity of 600. Although damaged by fire in October 2004 thankfully initial concerns that it would have to be demolished proved unfounded and the effect on capacity was minimal.
The fourth bend houses a covered terracing and food outlet with A-Plant's hospitality cabin cited in between the covered terracing and the bar which is housed in a permanent building between the 3rd and 4th bend. Rather dated toilet facilities are also here with an additional portacabin housing more toilets between the bar building and bend 3. The back straight is terraced although this is rather uneven and overgrown in places for those a little less mobile. There is similar terracing on the first bend whilst the pits are housed on the second bend. All spectating areas, particularly the back straight, are very close to the action.
The disadvantage of being tenants has been highlighted in the past as our landlords, Ashfield FC, were promoted to a higher level football league in 2008 and as a result the shape of the inside line of the track was changed slightly. Ashfield FC have been very flexible landlords and disucssions between them and Glasgow helped reshape the track again last season to further improve racing lines
Disabled access is not ideal but Tigers Marketing Director Elaine Daly, who can be contacted via the Official Glasgow Tigers Website, will help with any arrangements needed.
There is a secure car park available at the Stadium with a nominal charge, but spaces are limited. However there are also parking facilities at the Gala Bingo Hall a few hundred yards away on the opposite side of the road and parking here is preferable to on-street parking.
The Smoking ban in Scotland means that smoking is only permitted on the first bend and the back straight terracing.
Directions
From the South, travel up the M74 onto the M73(M8) signposted for Kincardine Bridge. Approximately a mile along the M73 take the cut off for the City Centre (M8).
Follow the M8 for just under 10 miles to Junction 15a, signposted for the A803 and Kirkintilloch (be careful not to come off the immediately preceding J15 Cathedral St by mistake). Follow the directions through the three sets of traffic lights in quick succession for the A803 Kirkintilloch (turning right, left, then right again).
Keep in the inside lane of the dual carriageway, carrying on straight ahead through all the traffic lights, for approximately 1 mile. You are looking for a slip road signposted Springburn Shopping Centre on the left. Take this slip road, turn left at the junction at the top. Follow this road for less than half a mile under a railway bridge to traffic lights at a T junction. Go straight ahead and Ashfield is immediately on your left hand side.
By public transport, if traveling by train you go in to the centre of Glasgow either to Queen Street or Central Station. At the time of writing, the no 75 from Hope St every 8 minutes takes you to Ashfield St and a short 2 minute walk to the ground or the 89 from the Royal Infirmary which runs every 35 mins stops right outside the ground. Up to date timetables can be checked at the Traveline Scotland website.
