At the start of 2007, Trent stood up at the supporters meeting and announced his intention to make the third heat leader spot his own. True to his word he certainly did that in 2007, adding a very impressive 1.86 to his GSA and becoming a formidable force round his home track.
When captain Shane Parker was injured towards the end of the season Trent was the obvious choice to deputise and he did so admirably.
2008 will definitely provide Trent with a fresh challenge riding as second heat leader in a young side. It may be quite difficult for him at times as the majority of clubs appear to have gone with two big hitters but there is little doubt that Trent can rise to the challenge. Although realistically his average is not likely to rise by the same amount as last season there is no doubt he will be giving it a good go and his average is still likely to increase.
Even before stepping into the captains shoes last season, Trent had also helped with the Speedway Study Support Centre and other promotional activities to promote the Tigers, proving himself to be a good asset for the side off track as well as on it.
