One of two exciting new Australians Glasgow are bringing over this season, Mitchell has speedway in his blood and has raced regularly alongside his father Gary for Queensland in the past couple of years.
In the Queensland U-21 championship at the end of November, 17 year old Mitchell top scored in the qualifying heats only to loose out to his new team mate Josh Grajczonek in an exciting final.
There is no doubting Mitchell's drive and enthusiasm for the sport. He came over to the UK with his family towards the end of last season to get some second half racing and stake his claim for a position in 2008. His scheduled rides at Ashfield were postponed because of rain but the promotion saw enough at King's Lynn, Mildenhall and Armadale to know that they wanted the youngster at Glasgow.
Mitchell has a classy style and there is no doubt that the dropping of the assessed average to 5 will be of benefit. It will be important to give him time to settle in, it will be a big year for him but the promotion have already shown how much confidence they have in him by securing him on a 2 year deal.
