The Promotion have publicly stated that Gary was very close to getting a Premier League spot at reserve for the Tigers in 2008 had the team taken a different direction but unfortunately he missed out and no other premier league openings appear there for him at the moment.
He spent last season riding Conference level with Cleveland Bays and the Bays fans certainly took to him with quite a few Redcar fans calling for him to be given a shot at reserve in the Redcar Bears team.
It wasn't to happen although Gary did manage a guest appearance at reserve for Glasgow against Edinburgh in the Premier Trophy and two guest appearances for Edinburgh (v Somerset in the KO Cup and against the Finnish select side) as well as a few outings as no 8.
Gary finished 2007 off in style, storming to victory in the Heathersfield Open at Ashfield and being crowned Scottish Junior Champion after a superb final race tussle with Adam McKinna.
Gary has been racing since 2000 and previously rode CL for Buxton after the demise of the Dale Devils.
Cleveland Bays have already indicated that, providing the CL Conference at the end of January does not throw up any surprises, they hope to have Gary as one of the main members of their side for 2008.
