Ferjan a Target?
(Posted 09/05/08)
A throwaway sentence at the end of an article in today's Scottish Sun suggests that Glasgow Tigers are looking at Matej Ferjan.
Slovenian born Ferjan was the Slovenian Champion from 1997-2001 before switching to a Hungarian license in 2002. He is the current Hungarian Champion and also held that title in 2003, 2004 and 2006. In addition he is also an ex-GP rider, being part of the series in 2001 and 2002.
Currently a Poole asset, Berwick were apparently interested in him prior to the start of the season. A decent gater, opinion on him seems divided amongst fans of his previous clubs with many commenting on an aversion to smaller tracks.
It does seem a strange target as we understand his EL average would be around the 5.45 mark and in addition he is also riding for Wolfslake in the Bundesliga, Pardibuce in the Czech League, Indianerna in Sweden and more crucially as part of Gorzow's squad in Poland.
There are however not a lot of options out there and only time will tell if this is a realistic proposition or not.
