Josh Stars Against Comets
(Posted 03/05/08)
Josh Grajczonek certainly opened a few people's eyes this evening with a very successful guest appearance for Rye House at Derwent Park.
He had his first experience of riding in the main body of the team, being drafted in at number 2, but showed right from the start that this did not phase him in any way.
The opening heat saw Josh shoot from the tapes and with his team mate Chris Neath behind him, he won the opening heat in a very respectable time.
He didn't have to wait long for his second race, taking the rider replacement ride in heat 3 when once again he made the gate alongside Tai Woffinden. Kauko Nieminen however swept round the outside of him towards the end of the opening lap and Josh had to settle for third.
Josh got his revenge on Kauko when the two came up against each other in heat 5. Once again Josh led from the tapes to the flag, claiming his second win of the evening.
Out again in heat 8, a level gate saw Josh come out of the mix in second place and although he never gave up he was not able to stop the home sides John Branney and had to settle for a second place.
His final outing was to come in heat 11. Unfortunately Josh missed the gate in this one and ended up behind partner Chris Neath at the back.
With a final tally of 9 points from his 5 rides, he certainly impressed and proved to be a shrewd choice of guest for the Rockets.
Well done Josh!
