Berwick Strengthen for Tigers Visit
(Posted 27/03/08)
Glasgow travel to Shielfield on Saturday to face a stronger Berwick side than any of the clubs in our Premier Trophy group have come across thanks to a team change bringing in ex-Tiger Henning Bager.
Bager will make his debut against the side that originally brought him to the UK with Berwick dropping Manuel Hauzinger who only rode a few yards for them in their meeting against Edinburgh last week.
It certainly strengthens the borders side as is possible because of the arbitrary reduction of Magosi and Aarnio's 7 point averages down to 5.
The Tigers hope to have their own debutante on Saturday evening however as Ross Brady is hopeful of returning to action after breaking his collar bone on the eve of the season. Ross will be a little behind on meeting fitness but as a superb gater his return should give the Tigers a boost on a track where gating is very important.
It will be Berwick's final Premier Trophy meeting of the group stages and will also give an indication of what sort of target clubs have to aim for to qualify for this season's pairs competition at Somerset on the eve of the British GP.
Currently having completed 5 of their 6 qualifying meetings, Berwick are on 11 points. The current standings can be seen here.
