David McAllan Danish GP Raffle

The latest venture to raise money to help David McAllan is now well underway and with a fantastic winning prize of entry to the Danish GP, 2 nights accommodation in Copenhagen and flights from any UK airport.

As all Tigers fans know, David was badly injured in a heat 13 incident in last season's home meeting against Birmingham and will never ride again.

His injuries are probably more serious than most realise as throughout David has retained a dignified silence as he has come to terms with them.

No one at his benefit night earlier this month could fail to have been moved as David explained in his normal matter of fact manner what he now has to face every day as a result of the crash.

As well as the well publicised injury to the L1 vertebrae which has been operated on and strengthened by the insertion of plates and rods which will have to remain there for life, David also suffered severe irreversible nerve damage.

This has left him with virtually no feeling from the waist down and with no ability to control normal daily body functions that we all take for granted. He has to try and control these with medication, something that it is not always easy to do.

It was fantastic to see David make it along to the opening home meeting at Ashfield and those present will have seen that David's walking was slow and laboured in stark comparison to his previous bouncy manner.

In his time riding speedway, David has always been an honest well liked guy who has never let anyone down. Hopefully the speedway family will now rally round him and give him the support he deserves.

Raffle tickets, priced at £5, are available at the track shop at Glasgow and are also available at Boston. Other speedway tracks have been asked if they will be willing to sell them but a facility to buy via pay pal* has also been set up thanks to Brian Logan. This can be found here.
