Pairs Qualifying 'Simplified'
(Posted 21/03/08)
The Super7even spokesman Jonathan Chapman this week talks of the Super 7 events in the Speedway Star and amongst other things mentions that the qualification for the PL Pairs has been simplified and is more open for all to understand.
Under their latest idea, qualification for the Pairs will be decided on the heat 15 results of the Premier Trophy meetings. Those clubs in Group 2, which has 5 teams, will only have their first 3 home and three away meetings counted.
Apparently this method of qualification is deemed fairer and easier to understand although obviously it doesn't take into account the different strengths of each group.
The top 9 teams will qualify and once again the 10th place will be a wild card so its not quite a straightforward qualification.
At the moment, Glasgow lead the way in qualifying after only 1 meeting courtesy of Shane and Trent's 5-1 from Sundays meeting against Berwick but almost half the teams have yet to ride a PT meeting!
We will try and keep a note of how clubs are doing in the qualification stakes here.
