Meet the Riders Night - Josh Grajczonek
(Posted 06/03/08)
Josh first became aware of Glasgow's interest a couple of days before Christmas when he received an e-mail.
He did have another couple of offers but had originally thought he would stay at home this season as his family weren't that keen for him to travel alone when so young. However with Mitchell and his dad Gary coming over it opened up the opportunity for him making it possible to travel.
For some time hee has been keen to come over to the UK and the Glasgow offer was a good one. He spoke to a few people back home in Australia about Glasgow and Shane and Robert as well as other people told him how great the Glasgow people were.
The snow had come as a bit of a shock as neither of them had seen snow and they were a bit bowled over by it and out taking photos!
He was itching to get out on the track and disappointed it wasn't possible today but they just have to wait and hopefully they will get out on track in the next couple of days.
Although there is no pressure from the club, Josh feels he wants to build himself up as quick as he can. It is definitely easier having Mitchell and his dad here as he has known them for years but the others around are good too.
Josh has been riding dirt track since he was 10 and at first didn't particularly like the idea of speedway but he tried it at 14 and has been hooked since.
The Australian Championships this year taught him a lot and he feels it has made him a better rider.
Although they haven't been able to ride the track yet they have walked it and he likes the look of it - it is similar to the track that the Australian U-21's were held on this year. He is desperate to get going.
Josh was sporting a white backside after making the mistake of sitting on one of the newly painted walls on the terracing!
