Meet the Riders Night - Lee Dicken
(Posted 06/03/08)
Looking back at last year, Lee felt he started the season well but hit a mid season slump before everything started to come good again towards the end of the year.
A rider has to feel confident with his machinery but mid season he felt something just wasn’t quite right and changed his engine tuner. His form then improved and he finished the season on a high and is therefore confident for the start of the season.
Over the winter, Glasgow were always his number 1 choice, he wanted to come back. He did have approaches from another couple of clubs but told them that until he knew what Glasgow were doing he would not be making any decision even though it could have mean that he ended up sitting out the start of the season.
He feels that it is important for any rider to feel confident where he is riding and he feels that way about Glasgow. The fans at Glasgow are a big part of it as they always get behind you even if you are having a bad day and don’t get on your back.
There will be more pressure on him to do well with the new look team as it is important to step up to the mark and take the pressure off Josh and Mitchell and give them time to settle in.
His main aim for 2008 is consistency rather than a specific average target.
On the asset front, as far as Lee knows Glasgow have enquired to Sheffield but that is as far as its got. Sheffield did phone him last week and he made it clear to them that he had nothing against Sheffield as such but did not see the point of remaining an asset of a club that he would never ride for.. it will probably be mid season before anything is resolved but he would like to become a Glasgow asset and hopefully come back and ride at Glasgow for a few years yet.
