Robert Reaches Aus U-21 Final
(Posted 27/01/08)
Josh Grajczonek and Robert Ksiezak have been in action this morning in the Australian Under-21 championships at Mildura with Robert in particular doing well.
The pre-meeting favourite for the event was understandably Chris Holder and just when it looked as if he was going to go through to the final unbeaten, Robert got the better of him in the last heat in a very entertaining race. The heat win meant that Robert finished the qualifiers on 13 points, one behind Holder and equal with Ty Proctor.
With no semi final, Robert went straight into the final, the fourth spot being claimed by Troy Batchelor after a run off with Aaron Summers.
The final itself got off to a shaky start, a re-run necessary after Batchelor fell on the initial running and was excluded. Unfortunately Robert's luck was to run out in the re-run, his bike giving problems right from the start and resulting in him retiring from the race. Chris Holder went on to win from Ty Proctor..
Josh meantime had a mixed evening. His first race saw him excluded for a tapes infringement after being a little too keen to get underway but he followed that up with a fine win in heat 7. In his remaining three rides he was only able to claim two third places although once again was never off the pace.
