Pairman Puts Star Straight

Glasgow co-promoter Gordon Pairman has taken time out this week to set the Speedway Star correct on a misleading headline that appeared in last weeks edition suggesting Phil Morris had been cleared of any blame for his part in ending David McAllan's speedway career.

The article, which can be read in full here, points out that the headline in last weeks magazine inferred that Morris had been absolved of any blame.

Whilst taking great pains to point out he is not for one minute suggesting that there was any malice aforethought from Morris nor was he commenting on the SCB's disciplinary decision, Gordon pointed out that the offending headline did give a misleading impression of the SCB's actions - which were merely to decide no further action be needed after Morris was flung out of the afternoon's meetings and did not exonerate him from his part in the incident as had been inferred.

One other comment in the article that stands out is one that many Glasgow fans have already picked up on in the months since the incident. Had Morris at any time expressed regret over what had happened to David, feelings might not be running so high.

Not mentioned in the article but our point of view is that one thing that really stands out in marked contrast to his opponents reaction to the events of that day is the dignity with which David McAllan has handled the situation despite being the one left with massive hurdles to overcome.
