Beaton Unlucky at Scunthorpe
(Posted 17/02/08)
Gary Beaton was back in action at Scunthorpe again yesterday for the second amateur meeting of the winter, having already won the first a couple of weeks back, but was not so fortunate this time out.
Gary did well in his qualifiers, finishing on 12 points, posting the fastest heat time of the day and making the 'A' final. However in the initial running he took a very heavy tumble and was excluded from the re-run which was won by David Wallinger.
John MacPhail, who rode a few times last season for the Giants Academy League team also took part in the event and just failed to make the 'A' final, finishing third in the 'B' final.
Another name that some may recognise from last season is Marc Owen. Marc traveled up from his base on the south coast to race 250cc at Ashfield last season alongside Dale Lamb amongst others and impressed with his style and the quick way he adapted to a new track. Marc won the 250cc event yesterday winning all of his 8 outings.
