Beaton to Captain Cubs

Glasgow youngster Gary Beaton's disappointment at not getting a Premier League spot has been softened slightly with the news that he will not only be racing in the CL for Redcar Cubs (previously Cleveland Bays) but that he has also been appointed their captain.

He was a popular rider for the Bays last season. The fans certainly took to him with quite a few Redcar fans calling for him to be given a shot at reserve in the Premier League side.

Currently the Scottish Junior Champion, Gary showed in his speech after that event last year the qualities, attitude and determination that have obviously impressed his CL team and led to him being announced as their captain.

Although not in the team, the Cubs squad for 2008 also includes Glasgow asset Steve Jones.
